Read the following information and answer the questions which follow it:

 

rabbit

A rabbit is eating grass in a field. Suddenly it stops eating and looks up. Its ears are upright and its nose is twitching. After a few seconds the rabbit quickly hops into its burrow.

 

(a) What might have caused the rabbit to stop eating?

(b) Which of its senses does the rabbit use to test its environment?

(c) Why is it better to use two or three senses rather than one? Use the rabbit as an example in your answer.

(d) How might a predator, such as a fox, move close to a rabbit without being noticed?
